In S3/4, Modern Studies is getting serious! 

We have started a new unit of work called'Crime and the Law in Scotland.' As well as learning the structure of the Justice System in Scotland, we are addressing difficult questions. Last week, we held a class debate - 

'This house believes that the Death Penalty should be re-introduced in Britain.'

The class were split in to two teams, and carried out research for homework in preparation for the debate. After some heated, but mature debating, we moved to a vote. 

Results:

2 Abstentions

8 in favour of reintroducing the death penalty with various provisos

2 opposed to bringing the death penalty at all.
